Dr. Eran Segal
I am a researcher of the Arab Gulf States (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Oman). I have completed my studies (B.A., M.A, PhD) at the University of Haifa (1996-2008). I started teaching at the department in 1999. Today I also teach at the Levinsky College of Education and the Yezreel Valley College. In 2008 I joined the Ezri Center for Iran and Gulf States Research as a research fellow and today I am the academic coordinator of the center. In my studies, I try to understand state-formation in the Gulf focusing on socio-political aspects like elite relations, political participation and the place of different groups like merchants, tribes, etc. I also study historiography, exploring changes and trends in the history of writing history. I have a B. Ed in teaching history and since 2015 I teach at Ben-Gurion high school in Petach Tikva, a unique program deals with Iran and researching the Middle East.
