Prof. Eppel focuses on modern Iraq and modern Syria; Kurdish history and the Kurdish nationalism, international relations in the Middle East, the Israeli-Arab relations, the Russian involvement in the Middle East, the middle class in the Arab states, the domestic politics and the shaping of the foreign policy in the Arab states.
