BA in Middle Eastern Studies and Digital Humanities

The combination of Middle Eastern studies and the Digital Humanities Program enables students to take 12 credits out of the total of 60 required for the entire degree, in unique courses from this program. The second major for students on this track is in the department of information systems.

Introduction- classical Islamic era, integrated world – 2 credits
Society and regime in the classical Islamic era – 2 credits
Scientific writing – 2 credits
Introduction- the Ottoman Empire – 4 credits
Introduction to Islamic religion – 4 credits
Methodological training – 2 credits
Introduction to the history of the world
/What is history in Haifa, parts A+B
(mandatory School of History) – 4 credits
Introduction – new borders, old challenges,
the modern Middle East – 4 credits
Middle Eastern economy – 4 credits
2 Seminars – 12 credits
Middle Eastern language
(Persian/Turkish/spoken Arabic) – 8 credits

• The curriculum and schedule will be customized in a meeting with the head of the department / BA advisor, so it will not exceed the 48 credits limit.
• Exceptional students of this program will be rewarded with scholarships, practical internship in research or industry projects- funded by the program, and/or a trip for a summer school in Europe.
