Ashkan Safaei Hakimi

I am an MA student at the department of Middle-Eastern and Islamic Studies at the University of Haifa. I was born and raised in Iran and immigrated to Israel at the age of 26. I am writing my thesis on Iranian immigrants in Israel. Since 1948, more than 80,000 Jews immigrated to Israel from Iran. They and their descendants constitute around three percent of Israel’s population. My research studies the absorption, integration and acculturation of, primarily, the first generation of these immigrants.

Besides being a student, I am also a professional journalist, translator and research assistant. I am currently working as the Israel correspondent of the London-based Iran International TV.
